Event Leaders

Gina Crevello, FAPT Gina Crevello, founding Principal of Echem Consultants, is an architectural and materials conservator with a primary focus on diagnosing and sensitively repairing material degradation in historic reinforced concrete structures, masonry clad steel frame buildings and atmospherically exposed metals, among other building materials. After working as an architectural conservator for six years, she trained in electrochemistry and associated non-destructive testing to expand her knowledge in the application of innovative technologies for use in architectural conservation. Her firm has been a leader in applying these technologies to historic structures for 15 years, and she has been active in preservation for over 25 years. Professionally, Gina was trained at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP), where she received an MSC in Historic Preservation, with an emphasis on Architectural Materials Conservation (1998) and an Advanced Certificate in the Conservation of Historic Buildings and Sites (2000). With 28 years of experience, she is the first US/UK trained architectural conservator to specialize in electrochemical conservation and treatment methods for historic buildings. Gina is recognized for this expertise internationally and leads all historic or sensitive architectural / arts based projects in her office, where she participates or directs the work. Gina is a Fellow and Past President of the board of directors for the Association of Preservation Technology, active with the National Association of Corrosion Engineers STG01, the International Concrete Repair Institute, the American Institute of Conservation and the American Concrete Institute (ACI). Ms. Crevello has authored over 25 articles and has spoken at dozens of symposia and conference events pertaining to corrosion science, material durability, preventive conservation and historic preservation. In 2014, she co-authored an annotated bibliography on Historic Concrete as part of the Getty Conservation Institute’s Conserving Modern Architecture Initiative (CMAI).


Paul Noyce Paul Noyce is a corrosion and durability engineer with 34 years’ experience in the diagnostics and repair of concrete and steel structures. Paul has designed and overseen some of the largest corrosion mitigation projects on reinforced concrete in the world, including critical infrastructure in the UK, the US and the Middle East. He has been instrumental in the use of electrochemical testing and repair for reinforced concrete structures, including historic and new design. Paul’s notable innovate work includes the development of impressed current cathodic protection on historic steel frame buildings, the use electro-osmotic pulse for dewatering / damp proofing structures, and the use of electro chemical chloride extraction on Grade I listed structures (the Cutty Sark Clipper ship). As Echem’s technical director, Paul leads the teams’ investigation, forensic and design work. Paul’s research includes developing service life and performance models for new and existing structures. Paul has developed Life 52®, a package of services that assist with better understanding current conditions of the structure and prediction models for future corrosion and failure analysis. Paul is past chairman of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) Standard Technical Group 01 which focuses on concrete material degradation. Paul is Chairman of the NACE Concrete Service Life Conference, which focuses on durability of new and existing structures. In this role, he helped to build an awareness of concrete material durability between NACE, the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI)’s technical committees. Key projects Paul has been involved with range from Concrete Corrosion Advisor to the Guggenheim Museum to overseeing the largest concrete corrosion mitigation projects in the UK, US, and Middle East in transportation infrastructure and energy. Paul has recently overseen the investigation and service life analysis of the iconic Claiborne Pell Bridge, the durability assurance and cathodic prevention design of the White House Fence, and the investigations on the Kentucky State Capitol roof, rotunda and dome. In 2013 Paul received the prestigious IEEE and the Electrochemical Society’s New Technologies Award for his work in electro-osmotic pulse techniques for dewatering concrete. Paul is a National Ready Mix Concrete Association (NRMCA) Level 4 Concrete Durability Expert.
