Bright Ideas: Technology & Transformation in Preservation

APTNE is pleased to announce the 2026 Annual Meeting & Symposium, taking place on Friday, March 6, 2026, with an in-person program hosted in Morristown, New Jersey, alongside a fully virtual option for remote attendees. 

This year’s theme, Technology & Transformation in Preservation, celebrates the innovative tools, techniques, and research shaping the future of our field. The Northeast has long served as a crucible for technological progress, from Edison’s pioneering work in electric light to Bell Labs’ groundbreaking laser research. Today, that same spirit fuels how preservationists document, restore, interpret, and safeguard historic structures and cultural resources. Grounded in traditional craftsmanship yet propelled by modern digital and material technologies, preservation professionals continue to expand what is possible in understanding and maintaining the built heritage that holds both our celebrated and challenging histories.
